I heard from a friend about you guys and after watching the board for awhile
I think he is right about you all being helpful to other varmint hunters. so Here is my question,
I have a custom 223 built by a local gunsmith it shoots under 1/2 inch at 100 meters but I paid $1000.00
for the gun and I feel it should do better. My gunsmith says it is my scope,I am useing a simmons 3X9X32
which I got from a friend the smith says the crosshairs are to thick for any better grouping because they cover
the dot I'am aimming at 1/4 dot . He also said hand loads would help. Wouldn't factory shells be better? We had
kind of an arugument about cal. when I first started this project I wanted a gun that would shoot 300 yds and I wanted
a 30-06 but he said a 223 would do it was he right? I want to shoot coyotes and will a 223 do it? I have been reading
several magazins and I just want to be sure I have the power and accurcy to to kill at 300 yds. He came very highly recomended
by several other hunters and my rifle does seem to be made very well it is a Sako action and match fluted barrel and the stock is lamminate
thumbhole. If this sounds good enough to you guyes I'll quite worrying please let me know if I got screwed. If the scope is the problem what
would you suggest?
