Loud is relative, the 221 FB in a rifle has slightly less crack than the 222 Rem. It's accuracy is outstanding right behind the 222. Forget the 300 Whisper for low noise, unsupressed varmint kills. The Whisper, for good kills on varmints needs a 125 gr BT driven at supersonic velocities, which will increase the noise level. Unsupressed the 300 Whisper is about as loud as light target loads in a 40 S&W pistol cartridge. I went to using 17's for poulated areas, much less noise, low richochet factor. Sounds like you need a 17 ackley hornet!!
