Don't understand completely what you mean "doom" when reffering to your method of barrel break in !! I think you did a good thing by cleaning throughly and then sat down to fire a few rounds using the type bullets that will most likely be used in your barrel!!! I'm still not completely sold on the fact that if you start out with a nice smooth bore that all that shoot 1, clean, shoot 1, clean...until 10 or so rounds is really ALL that worthy of good accuracy and barrel longevity anyway!! Hell, in Benchrest standards, by the time some of us sent enough rounds down the barrel to break-in, find 14 or so loads with 14 different bullets, our barrels would be shot out and have to be replaced!! Some of the minute imperfections in the barrel that are usually filled up with copper during a non-moly jacket bullet being used in the break-in period, is now in your barrel filled with moly!! What's the problem here???? I can't see one!!!
Just remember that when cleaning your barrel now, use a nylon brush to maintain the moly in the barrel, as opposed to a brass bristle that will remove it !!!
Keep getting it!!! I think you've hurt nothing!!!
Later, JRM
