I try to take offhand shots at chucks at distances under 200 yards with my Rem 22-250 VarmSyn. The two guys I hunt with tink I'm nuts, but last year hit 2 for 2. 180 and 190ish yarders.
Hit 5 clay pigeons with 5 shots offhand at 210 yards with Rem 40x 6mm Rem in a gravel pit (no wind). Also fired 5 shots with 50 cal flintlock in competition (when it counted) offhand at 50 yards in 1 1/4 group. Unfortunately, it was a score shoot, not a group shoot, and I lost by 2x's.
My dad used to "cut daisies" with a scope-sighted 22 lr Erma in the sitting position. The game was to hit the stem (not the flower) of a daisy at a given distance (25-50 yards or so). When you hit it, the top halk of the daisy would just slowly fall over. Pretty fun, good times with my dad, and good practice.
