Funny you bring that up. SOF magazine ran an article recently pointing out those same facts, that police SWAT units have basically become military spec ops like units ie.. gear, training. In reality, when some of these spec ops guys get out, they either get absorbed back into some gov't agency, civilian LE or even go to the "dark side" where the pay can be excellent for the special skills they have aquired.
