Being as you mentioned it I have some Canadian friends who explained the baby seal harvest to me once. It seems that it is an activity that is restricted to the native people of the area. It is a traditional annual event that is highly regulated and very well controlled. The Canadians I know have no objecion to the baby seal harvest but they do object to the interferance of traditional hunting activities by modern american seal lovers.
