Rod V: I do not totally agree with you in this respect. I ran across a fellow in a dusty little basin in Wyoming last year. We were both Varmint hunting. Literally the first words out of his mouth after I asked how ya doin were "That damn Varmint Hunters Association has screwed up the Varmint Hunting!". He continued "first the NRA has got every one pi--ed of at gun owners and we are gonna lose our guns now the Varmint Hunters Association is telling every one about my doggin areas and there arent any left to shoot". I tried to tell him that the PD's in this area had been killed by the plague and I did mention that I was Life member #185 of the VHA but he seemed more intent on venting his anger than listening to another explanation. I further tried to calm his fears about the NRA and the fact that I was an Endowment member of same and yet I to found fault with the NRA and had told the representatives many times (in private only) where I disagreed with the Associations direction and policies. Indeed I told him that my 2 oldest children I had signed up as life members long ago but til certain things are changed at the NRA my 2 youngest sons (aged 14 and 12) will not become members! This seemed to appease his anger. I listened to his opinions and he listened to more of mine. I think this initial unpleasant exchange turned benficial for both us Varminters. The exchange of opinions and political viewpoints is as necessary to our exitence as the Pittman Robertson act has been to the preservation of Big Game and Waterfowl Hunting as well as Varminting! Just like the 10% P-R tax. I am willing to put up with 10% or so of this board being political in nature. Indeed I have made phone calls and E-mails and snail mailings to worthy causes I have heard of on this board that I am thankful were brought to my attention.
Besides that they are easy to skip over if you are not interested as they usually contain a strong hint of their political nature in the subject header!
