I was gonna complain about my name always having to come up when someone asks this question, but it's just occurred to me, that since you get to subtract one bullet diamter, or "one hole", maybe it makes sense. BUT, I didn't think this up, it's just the best way to do it. You could get the same results measuring center to center of the two widest shots, but that gets kinda complicated when your group is just a one, ragged hole.
