Most of you know this already, but for those who don't...
When you see a "web address" (URL - Uniform Resource Locator) like the one I just posted:
http://www.nra.org/grassroots/edcomgdl.html
You can navigate from there backwards / upwards to the root of the web site. This will often give you a look at valuable related information the site contains.
Here's how to do it:
1. Just paste the original URL into your web browser's "web address" or "location" text box. In the one I just posted, it would be this:
http://www.nra.org/grassroots/edcomgdl.html
2. Put your mouse pointer at the far right hand side of the URL and click TWICE. Then use the BACKSPACE key to delete from right to left until you get to the first front slash (/) you come to.
3. You should now have this in the "web address" or "location" text box:
http://www.nra.org/grassroots/
4. Press the ENTER key to go to the site. This will take you to the next higher level in the web site.
5. You can repeat this process until you have deleted everything to the right of the domain designator:
http://www.nra.org/
That is the "top level" of their web site.
By the way, common domain designators are .com .org .gov .edu
I hope this helps some of you use the web more effectively to defend our right to keep and bear arms.
My apologies to those of you who already knew this.
