Mike,

Convicted felons have no rights as a US citizen. Among other things felons have no right to vote until it is restored to them after they have served their punishment. I suspect until they have had the right restored to them they can't hold office. None of that has anything to do with what I am upset about. Clinton was acquited. Not the same as being not guilty, however Clinton is not the object of my disgust. The 60% or more of people who believe he is an unpunished felon and should still be in office are.

Sombody else's hint about the condition of the US being reminiscient of the decline of the Roman Empire was highly appropriate. With even a little knowledge of history, the general pattern of government abuse in the last decade is frightening. Abuse of power is widespread and largely uncontested. In the Clinton case abuse was contested and found acceptable by a majority. Apparently a majority of the people polled find this abuse acceptable also as long as their wallet is fat. I fail to make a direct connection between the fat wallets and Clinton but logic is not entering into the equation for most people. I expect a severe economic downturn in the next twelve to eighteen months. Somehow I suspect Clinton will not receive the blame for that.

The GOP has repeatedly and successfully been acused of voting along party lines although they have repeatedly split their votes. On the other han Demo's haven't had the same problem in spite of voting far more cohesively. All I have learned is who has the better relationship with the press.

Hu
