There are several federal court precedents that the jury disregarded. It seems that at least one juror deliberating the case had more than a 2-volt brain, he knew it would blow the litigation doors off of the hinges, based on earlier case law. Let's allow the appeal process to work, and in the meantime, find your gun-owning friends that are "out of the loop" and give them a good swift kick in their complacency. Provide NRA membership applications. If you can afford it, pay for a "gift" membership for one friend that is not inclined to join on his or her own. Please, for the time being, drop the anti-NRA rancor and accept that the NRA membership rolls are the only number the anti-gun crowd has any interest in. Getting people involved once again may help them to see that this is a serious issue and sitting on the sidelines is not acceptable. Prediction: NRA membership is going to increase sharply, and will continue to do so as long as these cities' lawsuits are a threat.
If this verdict is affirmed at the appellate court level, manufacturers of EVERYTHING are going to be vulnerable to litigation and will increase product prices accordingly to cover anticipated increased legal fees and settlements, so kiss the "booming economy" goodbye. A handful of big cities will have disrupted the economy far beyond the city limits.
Please organize support for any legislation banning such lawsuits that may be proposed in your state. Also, the firemarms manufacturers that are subject to the N.Y. judgment will need our financial support for their appeal. Could someone post a list of those companies? It'd be mutually beneficial to all if we purchased their guns, don't you agree?
