Go on over and give Varmit Al a visit. He has a great website. You might also visit Centerfire Central and Berger Bullets. All have great tips not only on break in but on subjects I had never considered.

If you don't already have them, go get a good cleaning rod (eg Deweys) and a good bore guide. For years I tried to make do with those cheap aluminum rods and no guide (of course I didn't know any better and was only cleaning after hunting season), but with the amount of cleaning I started doing with my Swift, these things made my life much easier.

As far as the breakin procedure I used:
Clean=One or two patches of Shooters Choice, 2 dry patches, 2 patches of Sweets to check for copper, 2 dry patches, 1 patch of JB's, 2 patches of Kroil, two dry patches.
1 shot, clean x10 times
3 shots, clean x5 times
5 shots, clean x5 times
10 shots, clean x3 times

Pain in the neck? YES. Don't take any friends with you to the range, they tend to get impatient and throw rocks at you. Oh yeah I ran alot of JB's up and down the bore before I fired the rifle. Don't forget to clean the chamber and neck area to get any buildup of JB's and such out of there. This is a factory rifle, the bore is feeling smooth, and you'ld have to beat me with a stick to get me to fire lap a barrel.

Have fun, Ed
