Where are you from Joe? I know what you mean. I'm in central Indiana and 15-20 years ago it was routine to see 8 or 10 groundhogs on the edges of bean fields on an early morning or late afternoon in the Summer. I probably haven't seen 5 in the last 3 years. I'll admit that I don't have the time to be out lookin' for 'em like I used to, but you didn't used to have to look real hard. I think the increase in coyote populations and the use of preemergence herbicides has about cleaned them all out. Good for the farmers I guess, but lousy for varmint hunters.
