Scoping a Savage 110FP/112 question

Okayfine... The next toy is going to be a .22-250 or .223 (still ruminating, and likely will until I go plunk down the cash) Savage, and I'm going to stick a Weaver 6-24 on it. Will probably go with the long action if available, simply because I may stick it in one of those Choate stocks, and I don't think they make 'em for the short actions yet.

I'll likely go with a Weaver-type base and rings - May want to swap the scope between identical rifles. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd like to have the scope down fairly low. I've got a 110FP in .308 with a Tasco 5-20x50 on it, on a Leupold base with high rings, and it's okay, but I don't think that the mounting is really adding much.

Regardless, rings will be lapped with the kit that Sinclair sells.
