Thanks for the clarification, VG... no wonder my 'smith gave me that weird look when I asked for a price quote. Seriously though, it was me who should have been more clear I suppose. When I refered to wether or not it was worth the "work," I assumed it would be obvious to others that I was refering to forming brass, etc. and not reducing the actual diameter of an existing bore. Even though I was hoping poeple would give me the benefit of the doubt, I aquiesse that it was my falt for making such an assumption. Yep, I pretty much have a handle on what the 284 Win "necked down" to 6mm and 6.5mm are all about. I was just inquiring as to how much of a difference reducing the Bullet Diameter 1 and .5mm respectively makes to the intrinsic characteristics of otherwise virtually identical cartridges, without sounding exorbantly verbose and therefore less personal. I'm glad to take a bit of patrinizing though, because I know that it stemmed from a genuin and voluntary concern on your part
(I've rellished very much reading your well-thought posts for the last year or so). Besides, how were you to know? Thanks again, and If you have personal experience, that is a bit more specific, with what makes the two aforementioned wildcats (cartridges, not animals) different from each other, I invite you to share it with me.
Sincerely, Ian.
