The appeal of the .284 Win case is the 35 deg. shoulder and capacity equal to the .30-/06 in a cartridge that functions in a short action. The 6 and 6.5 are doing quite well at 1000 yard matches. Both of mine have 1:8 twist barrels for long and heavy bullets. Used to the max they will suffer barrel erosion much faster than less intense cartridges. Costs a lot to go fast.
The .284 natural was overwhelmed by the Remington 7mm magnum but spawned several very successful wildcats.
