Larry: Heres my favorite load in my 221 Rem. Fireball rifle (its a Kimber Ultra Varmint with 24" barrel). 16.9 grs. of IMR4227 in Remington cases using Federal 205M primers and the Berger 40 gr. Bullet.
Many of my friends with this caliber rifle are obtaining 222 Rem. cases made by Norma and sizing them down for extra accuracy. I do not find it neccessary as this load shoots in the low 4's consistently for me. I have a 12X Leupold on it for optics. I hope your rifle works well for you. Most of my friends rechambered 223's to 221 and most of them have obtained better accuracy at 100 yards than with there factory chamberings. I know folks that have rechambered to 221 using factory rifles in Ruger #1's, Ruger M-77V's and the Remington 700. It is a nifty little cartridge. I like it.
