MBR, I'm not really sure that anything can "eliminate" mirage when it is visible.

There are a number of accessory filters and adpapters available for the Nightforce line, including polarizing filters, adjustable aperture and an adapter to allow the use of ordinary photographic filters. I didn't opt for any of this stuff. The guy I bought my NF from felt it was all rather unecassary for typical varmint hunting situations (besides, I was going too far on the plastic already just buying the scope!). But, I would imagine that the right combination of polarizing filters, aperture reduction etc... could be utilized to minimize glare, maximize depth of field and improve contrast etc... for any given set of conditions.

FWIW, Dan Lilja reports being able to resolve bullet holes (50 caliber) "in the black" at 1000 yd's using a NF 5.5x22x56 when conditions are good. That's some pretty awesome resolution.
