I don't recall seeing a limited slip differential as an option, but I bought mine as a demo - so the option list was limited. They are probably about like 95% of the other 4x4's on the road. 2 Wheel drive!
You will really like the newer V6, bunch more horses.
The offroad joint out in your neighborhood that specializes in Toyota (forgot the name) has some pretty serious add ons like lockers and such that would be up to the task.
I know that mine gets around in the snow much better than the 87 that I had, though I haven't tested it in any extreme mud.
You will definately like the added room, I actually make use of the club cab portion of mine. The 5'10'' wife can ride in the back seat comfortably, or else she knows better than to bitch. (not likely!!!)
If you haul a boat you will also like the way it handles. I regularly pull about 3k lbs. of boat and don't know it's there.
