Outlaw,
I was taught by a gunsmith that made BR rifles, and his method was to bed tight , then use a Dremil tool to clear the fornt, sides and under the Lug. This seems to keep things consistant over a long period,My 06 was done in 76 and still will stay under 1". His method on Mauser type actions was to do the barrel 2" ahead of the lug and float it from there. works for me, built a very light weight 250 Sav. for my wife and sighting it in for deer season put 2 shots 2" high dead on at 100, same as when it was put away 2 years ago.
Good Shooting,
Rick B.
