I have a 96 T100 xtra as well. Pretty well satisfied with it, I have never given it an extreme test, but have the opinion that it gets around better than the average bear.
It is the 4th Toyota I've owned. An 82 Diesel, and 87 4x4, and a 90 4Runner were the others.
The 87 was the longest lived from a milage standpoint, I sold it to a brother of mine, it had the following repair work done prior to its demise at 226k miles in an accident.
Fuel pump at 59k, $19 and replace it standing up beside the truck. A clutch master cylinder at roughly 80k, a clutch at 186k miles. Pretty good service.
