if moly "washes" off easily, then I'd suggest your method is not providing a good coating. You can get it off, usually by tumbling in various media, but if they are coated correctly, it takes awhile to get it off. If you take a coated bullet, and rub it with your fingers, and can get down to copper, you're not getting a good impact plating result. As for textured bullets, I don't think you will be able to tell a difference in the way they shoot. But if you want to smooth them up, tumble them in some fine corncob media for just 2 to 4 minutes. Again, if that takes all the coating off, I'd try a different method.
