We dropped in at an "informal" non-sanctioned group shoot yesterday in Fairfax, Va.!! The weather wasn't that great, cloudy with intermittent rain, but about 10 shooters showed up with their gear and shot 5 relays of groups!!
The winning group aggregate was a .278" shot from a 6ppc at 100 yards!!
One of the competitors guns was a 6BR custom with a look a like Rem40X action and Hart barrel mounted into a thumbhole stock!! His rest was a Harris bipod mounted on the forearm!! His groups were good enough to put him in the middle of the pack!!
Another competitor came in with a nice 243Ackley Improved and shot some nice groups also!!
To put it all in perspective, everyone got a chance to get out and shoot their rifles(no matter what they were), had a chance to experience competition, and had a great time, all for $10 !!! (It was held at an IWLA range and the $10 was to go for the facility's use and maybe the cost of the targets!)
It might be something other groups may want to get going to have a little fun in the dark days of winter!!
If anyone living in this area would want to get in and shoot at the next match, let me know and I'll pass your name and "e" address along to the match coordinator!!!
No, me and the ole VaBoy just went down to look around we didn't shoot!!!
